n April 2007, Banco Espírito Santo de Investimento was awarded the following ratings by Standard & Poor’s: ‶A‶ long-term and ‶A-1” short-term, with a stable outlook. This was the result of an upgrade of the ratings assigned in January 2005 and maintained in February 2006 (‶A-‶/”Stable”/”A-2”). According to Standard & Poor’s, these ratings, which were maintained with positive outlook in February 2006, were due given the Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Banco Espírito Santo, in addition to its business model, its leadership position in investment banking in Portugal, its solid capital structure and asset quality.
